Potential BTO at Kallang Basin Swimming Complex, St Wilfred Sport Centre sites likely to be Plus flats: ERA Singapore
The Kallang Basin ActiveSG Swimming Complex and the St Wilfred ActiveSG Sports Centre will cease operations permanently in the 2nd half of 2025. On June 13, URA, HDB and Sport Singapore mutually revealed the end of the centers upon their contract expiries. The Kallang Basin complex, established on Geylang Bahru Lane, is going to shut on Sept 1, and the St Wilfred center on St Wilfred Road is going to shut on Oct 1.
The intentions to seal the Kallang Basin and St Wilfred sports facilities for redevelopment are timely, given that both areas are significantly older matched up to some other sports facilities, notices Eugene Lim, major executive officer at ERA Singapore. “It makes good sense for the places to pave the way for much better land use, specifically considered that they are located fairly near to the city centre,” he adds.

Lim believes that near future Build-to-Order (BTO) plans at the site could be marked as Plus flats due to their proximity to town and features. He anticipates the future BTO job at the site could include a mix of two- to four-room flats. “The neighboring sites have a plot proportion of 2.8, and assuming a the same plot ratio, we might see some high-rise BTO condos, possibly approximately 36 storeys,” he adds.
The Kallang Basin Swimming Facility location is throughout walking range of Geylang Bahru MRT Terminal and the Geylang Bahru Market and Food Center.
